What documents are needed to get married in Georgia?
- A passport valid for at least 3 months (the same one used to enter Georgia).
- If you have joint underage children – the child’s birth certificate.
- If one of the partners was previously married – a document confirming the dissolution of the previous marriage (e.g. divorce certificate or court decision).
Marriage requirements
- Both partners must be at least 18 years old.
- There must be no existing marriage with another person (bigamy is prohibited).
- Partners must not be close relatives.
- Same-sex marriages are not legally recognized in Georgia. As an alternative, you can consider Denmark for LGBTQ+ couples.
